Let's Play!

Imagination! The name of the game when it comes to children’s spaces…Large rooms and small cubbies that inspire creativity. What I find most impressive in kid’s rooms are the creative ways to stay organized. Little tips and tricks that make a big impact on function and organization – without sacrificing design. I’m inspired by these rooms because of what I do in my daily work and also because of my two little artists wreaking havoc in my home. ;) Let’s play!

This room uses an overall neutral color palette and lets the children's toys and books bring in pops of color. Love the idea of using a collection of toys or books to create art on the walls. The chalk wall has become a classic feature in children's spaces.

How clever it is to utilize this nook to create a grid system to hold baskets of toys. This keeps the space clean and still very functional for both kids and parents. The liners on the baskets keep the toy chaos to a minimum. Whew!

Instead of stools getting kicked around the bathroom, what about this built-in step that can simply slide back into the cabinet when not in use? Love this idea! This trick can also translate into playroom cabinets and library spaces, so kids can reach their toys and/or books.

This room has personality! Love the contrast of black and white with primary colors. And this room suites both boys and girls with its theme.

Such a simple idea here. Anyone can do this. Display play clothes on hooks to encourage cleaning up after play time is over!

What to do with all of your children's artwork? Frame the favorites and hang them in a grid. Framing your child's artwork is a nice way to add color and keep the walls clean and modern. Also, what child doesn't love to see their work hung on the wall?

Circus tent inspired room. Love the idea of keeping the room open for play and storing books and toys in the cabinet. Notice the modern lights with the more traditional detailing on the white ceiling tent. What a functional yet whimsical look. Oh, and look... all of the kids are dressed in white. ;)
